COURSE CONTENT

Week 1 – Preparing the ground
This week we will discover a wide variety of organic marks that capture the energy and flow of the natural world
We will experiment with different surfaces and tools to expand our mark making capabilities.
We will use our camera as a view finder and carefully select sites that express an exciting variety of viewpoints, and can be explored with the intention of creating dynamic compositions not dependant on the view through a camera lens.

Week 2 – Planting the seeds

This week we will use indian ink and bamboo pens to sketch outside or from photo’s to locate the main shapes, values, patterns, and masses in landscapes.
We will look at ways of gathering colour information outside and how to also create verbal triggers that influence our colour decisions back in the studio.
This week I will demonstrate a complete painting of a distant view.
Week 3 – Nurturing the seedlings

This week we will focus on detail in the landscape.
Noticing texture and how to interpret it in paint
How to paint reflections in water
This week I will demonstrate a complete painting of reflections in water
Week 4 – Harvesting the bounty

This week I will guide you through the process of painting two large paintings of landscapes that inspire you!
We will also look at ways of maintaining confidence ongoing in the studio to cope with the inevitable fallow field days ahead, as well as all of the glorious painting days that will emanate from this 4 exciting weeks of painting together.
As always on my Ecourses I open up the conversation beyond the classroom walls to include slideshows of artists that inspire me and why they do, and I use pinterest to share lots of inspiring contemporary landscapes and master art works from art history.
NEW to my Ecourse is a bonus poetry Module, as painting is about feeling, and we have the most fabulous poets in Ireland who have engaged with the landscape. I have a special guest lined up to share that with you!

You have access to the course "forever" or as long as it is reasonably feasible for me to host my website!
DOES PAULINE GIVE FEEDBACK IN SELF _ STUDY COURSES
No, Pauline does not participate actively in these courses.
DO I HAVE TO USE FACEBOOK?
No, Facebook is not a requirement. There will be an ongoing Private Facebook Group for you to share work with other artists who have purchased this course if you so choose. In this Private Group no other people will see your posts other than the students in this course. Your involvement in the group is completely up to you. I do not comment on paintings you post in self-study Ecourses.
HOW MUCH PAINTING EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
This course is suitable for all levels.
WHAT ARE THE COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS?
The videos in the course are now downloadable. In order to watch the videos via wi-fi, you will need high speed internet access. You can access the class from your computer, tablet or smart-phone, although a larger screen is most likely more desirable.
